Originally called Yare Boat Building, our company specialised in the construction of 'clinker', or 'lapstarke' boats. Very much an art, the techniques included the process of using steam-bent oak ribs, copper roved mahogany, and larch planking.

Modern methods of boat building (particularly fibreglass) changed the marketplace forever. Coming from a background where a tradition of quality and pride in woodworking techniques is second nature, we decided to apply our skills elsewhere: Herringport Furniture had evolved.

Situated in Gorleston-on-Sea, our 360 year old showroom attracts visitors from throughout southern England, and looks across the river Yare, along which Nelson sailed after his famous victory in the Nile.

We welcome visitors throughout the year, although it's often best to call beforehand to ensure our stock includes the type of thing you're looking for. You'll be able to see furniture in the perfect setting - and to check which pieces of furniture compliment each other.

Many visitors use the opportunity to take an invigorating walk along the sea-front, or stroll around the shops in this historic Norfolk town.
